MiniMax H3: AI video with sound, on your own PC

Hey! 👋 Here's what I promised you — with an honest note first:

MiniMax H3 is a video model from the Chinese company MiniMax. Its weights are free to download, but it's open weights, not open source: it comes under the *MiniMax H3 Community License*, which has real limits (see the bottom of this page).

What it does

• give it text, an image or a video → it generates a new video (up to 15 s, up to 2K)
• it adds the audio by itself: speech with lip sync and music matched to the scene — all in the same generation

Run it on your PC

1. WanGP — a free app optimised for "GPU poor" PCs that runs MiniMax H3 locally (plus LTX, Wan and more). Select models run with as little as 6 GB of VRAM; per its release notes, 15 s of H3 at 480p needs about 5–6 GB, and 1080p about 11 GB. NVIDIA (GTX 10XX and newer) and AMD (RDNA 2+) cards.

Then on Windows double-click scripts\install.bat, and start it with scripts\run.bat (Linux: the .sh files).

2. Pinokio — a 1-click launcher: it installs and starts WanGP for you, no commands to type.

Licence limits — read before you use it

• The licence does not cover the EU, the UK, South Korea or the USA — there you have to ask MiniMax for a licence.
• Commercial products must show "MiniMax H3" in their interface, and above $20M yearly revenue you need MiniMax's written authorisation.
