5 plugins that stop Claude Code from eating your tokens

Hey! 👋 Here's what I promised you:
If Claude Code burns through your tokens, the problem usually isn't Claude — you're just missing the right plugins. Here are the 5:
1. Headroom — sits between you and the model and only passes on what matters: it compresses tool outputs, logs and files before they reach the LLM, so you get the same result with fewer tokens. Compression runs on your machine.

headroom wrap claude starts a local proxy, also installs the Serena MCP server for that project, and launches Claude Code through Headroom. An anonymous usage beacon is on by default (no prompts or code) — turn it off with HEADROOM_TELEMETRY=off.2. Task Observer — watches how you work, learns your style, and proposes improvements to your other skills (and new skills). You review and approve every change.

Then add the activation instruction from references/environments.md to your CLAUDE.md — installing alone isn't enough.
3. Claude Mem — memory for Claude from one session to the next, so you don't re-explain your project every time.

4. Claude Code Setup — official Anthropic plugin: scans your code and tells you which hooks, skills, MCP servers and sub-agents you should add. It's read-only — it recommends, it doesn't change your files.

Then just ask: "recommend automations for this project".
5. OmniRoute — when you hit your Claude limits, it switches you to free or cheap models (DeepSeek, GLM…) so you keep working until your limit resets.
